Annapurna Circuit Trek Overview

Annapurna circuit trek 15 days is widely famous among those individuals who wish to trek around the Annapurna region. This adventurous trek takes you to the beauty and serenity of the Himalayas of the Annapurna region, including the Annapurna ranges.

The journey offers many breathtaking views of mountains like Dhaulagiri, Machhapuchhre and, of course, the stunning Annapurna ranges. With the carefully crafted package of a 15 days Annapurna circuit trek, you can explore the highlights of the Annapurna region within just a few days.

There is an experience waiting to be discovered inside this breathtaking scenery of snow-capped peaks, mist-covered valleys, isolated settlements, and historic monasteries.

Immersed in the awe-inspiring beauty of the Annapurna Circuit, you'll not only challenge yourself physically but also forge connections with the vibrant traditions of the local inhabitants at altitudes surpassing 5,000 meters.

Even for the most experienced trekkers, this challenging trek is well worth it for the sense of achievement and the priceless memories it leaves behind.

The route starts with your arrival in Kathmandu, where you will meet our team and guides, who will brief you about your trek. The next day, the route follows a scenic drive to Besishahar.

After Besishahar, the next day we will drive to Chame, from where the trekking begins. From Chame, for the following few days, we will trek through Pisang, Manang, Laddar, Thorang La Pass, Muktinath and Jomsom, respectively. Your trek ends with a flight back to Pokhara from Jomsom.

Why do the Annapurna Circuit Trip?

There are several reasons why you should do this 15 days Annapurna circuit trek. The first reason is that the trails on this trek are filled with stunning scenery and diverse landscapes. Your route will travel through an amazing range of landscapes, including snow capped Himalayas, alpine meadows, lush foothills, and deep valleys.

Another reason why you should do this trek is because it will be convenient if you are short on time. Even though our 15 days Annapurna circuit trekking itinerary only lasts for ten days, this journey is packed with enough adventures and experiences.

Throughout the trek, you will come to an extensive range of architectural and cultural wonders, from the exhilarating Kathmandu to the quiet alpine villages of the highest Himalayas.

You will also get to experience the culture and lifestyle of the people living in this region.

The Gurung and Magar ethnic groups make up the majority of the population in the Annapurna region of Nepal, and discovering their age-old customs and Tibetan religious imagery is guaranteed to become a treasured memory of your trekking journey.

The Annapurna region is also full of breathtakingly beautiful landscapes, ranging from the undeniable grandeur of snow-capped Himalayan peaks to mist-shrouded valleys covered in conifer forests.

You will be beneath the majestic peaks of tall mountains such as Machapuchare, Dhaulagiri, Manaslu, and, of course, the massive Annapurna massif itself. There isn't, in our opinion, a better way to become connected with the Himalayan peaks than by doing this trek.

Ideal Season for you to do Annapurna Circuit Trek

The greatest seasons for this trek to Annapurna are spring and fall, which span from February to May and September to early December.

Spring season (March to May)

An ideal season to trek the Annapurna circuit is in the spring. The route is steady, the flowers bloom profusely, the rivers swell and form spectacular cascades, and the temperatures are moderate.

15 days Trekking to Annapurna circuit in this season offers better views, and a clearer sky is also available in the spring; however, occasionally fog might be seen at lower elevations. The trekking route gets crowded as it is one of the peak seasons for trekking in the Annapurna region.

Here are the temperature ranges during the spring season at lower and higher elevations:

Lower elevations (1000–2500 m)

  • Daytime: 15°C–20°C (59°F–68°F)
  • Nighttime: 5°C–10°C (41°F–50°F)

Higher Elevations (2500 m–5416 m)

  • Daytime: 5°C–15°C (41°F–59°F)
  • Nighttime: -5°C to -15°C (23°F to 5°F)
  • Thorong La Pass (5416 m): Can drop to -20°C (-4°F) at night

Autumn season (September to November)

The Annapurna circuit offers fantastic trekking conditions in October and November, when the rains stop. The routes are no longer small rivers, the days are warm, and visibility is excellent.

Although you'll be walking alongside locals on the trails, part of the allure of traveling to this region of the world is undoubtedly having to hold back to give way to a yak or a herd of goats.

Autumn is one of the safer seasons for trekking to the Annapurna Circuit because of the lower temperatures, less mud on the mountainsides, reduced chance of avalanches, and well-packed routes.

Here are the temperature ranges during the autumn season at lower and higher elevations:

Lower elevations (1000–2500 m):

  • Daytime: 15°C–20°C (59°F–68°F)
  • Nighttime: 5°C–10°C (41°F–50°F)

Higher Elevations (2500 m–5416 m):

  • Daytime: 5°C–15°C (41°F–59°F)
  • Nighttime: -5°C to -15°C (23°F to 5°F)

Permits required for the trek

Permits are required, as they provide you with authorization to enter the Annapurna region. For this trip, you need two major permits: the Trekkers Information Management System (TIMS) and the Annapurna Conservation Area Permit (ACAP).

  • Trekkers Information Management System (TIMS): TIMS, alias, increases the safety of all trekkers in Nepal. Not just for the Annapurna circuit trekking for 15 days, but for most treks in Nepal, a TIMS card is required. For us to get your TIMS card, we require a photocopy of your passport and two passport-sized photos. The cost of a TIMS card is NPR 2,000, which is equivalent to 17 USD.
  • Annapurna Conservation Area Permit (ACAP): This permit was created specifically for the Annapurna Region. The permit and the amount you have to pay help to preserve the area. To get your ACAP, you need to fill out a form with information on your insurance, your intended trekking route, and your itinerary. The cost of ACAP is NPR 3,000, which is equivalent to 25.50 USD.

Annapurna Circuit Trek 15 Days Accommodation

Throughout your trek, you will spend 8 days in total in tea houses or lodges along your trails. However, please note that accommodation in Kathmandu and Pokhara is not included in our costs.

Although most rooms are designed for twin sharing, our guides will make room arrangements based on gender. Please communicate ahead of time if you will be traveling as a couple or if you would like private accommodations within a group, and we will make the appropriate arrangements to meet your needs.

The first few days of your trek usually include lodging in teahouses tucked away in scenic route areas. You can connect with other travelers and exchange travel stories in the warm, social setting of these teahouses.

As you trek further up, you can have various options for lodging. Basic lodges provide a straightforward but genuine experience in certain remote areas, letting you engage with locals. Even if the facilities are relatively basic, the friendly hosts and breathtaking surroundings will make everything worth it.

Meals during the journey

Simple but filling meals are available at the teahouses and small restaurants in the villages during the first few days of your trek. The most common food that you will find is a wholesome source of energy, Dal Bhat, which is a classic Nepali cuisine made of rice, lentil soup, veggies, and occasionally meat.

The menu changes depending on what's available as your trek goes on and you reach higher elevations. More and more vegetable and dairy products are acquired locally, which enhances the meals' authenticity and freshness.

The cuisine might be simpler in some isolated places, but the locals' kind hospitality compensates for any lack of culinary variety.

Annapurna Circuit Trek 15 Days Altitude Sickness

You might be worried about this trek, as altitude sickness can be a risk because the trail ascends to 5,416 meters (17,769 feet) at Thorong La Pass.

When your body can't adapt to the reduced oxygen levels at high elevations, it might result in altitude sickness. Altitude sickness symptoms might include headaches, nausea, exhaustion, lightheadedness, and trouble falling asleep.

It's important to be hydrated during the trek, so we encourage you to stay well-hydrated to avoid dehydration. Along with that, make sure that you walk at your own pace; this will help you to acclimate properly.

If you feel any symptoms of altitude sickness or any discomfort in your body, make sure to inform our guides. They are there to ensure your safety and make sure you have a comfortable and safe trekking experience.

Annapurna Circuit Trek 15 Days Travel Insurance

Travel insurance is essential and required for every visitor to Nepal who plans to trek for safety concerns. Purchasing travel insurance is a simple online process. Following are the reasons why you should get travel insurance for this trek.

Medical Coverage: You run the risk of altitude sickness when your trek reaches high elevations like Thorong La Pass. Insurance that provides sufficient medical coverage and helicopter evacuation is essential.

Trip Cancellation or Interruption: Unprepared for unforeseen circumstances like illness or natural disasters might cause challenges in your trek. So, through travel insurance, you can get a refund for canceled trek packages, canceled flights, and other pre-paid costs.

Emergency Evacuation: Select travel insurance that addresses emergency evacuation in case of unanticipated situations, using a ground ambulance or a helicopter.

Personal Effects: Losing or damaging your luggage can ruin your trek. Insurance that includes luggage coverage reduces the cost of having to replace misplaced or stolen goods.
