Manaslu Circuit Trek Overview

Manaslu Circut Trek is a well known adventure in Nepal that takes you to the heart of the Himalayas and the beauty of nature. The 15-day Manaslu Circuit Trek, which follows Everest, Annapurna, and Langtang, is an incredible adventure. It's interesting to note that this is one of the few trekking areas where individuals can go alone on their own, as groups should consist of two people.

Manaslu, also known as Kuntang, stands as the eighth-highest peak globally, reaching an elevation of 8,163 meters (26,781 feet) and boasting an isolation of 106 kilometers (66 miles). Embarking on the Manaslu Circuit Trek immerses you in the enchanting Mountain of Spirit trails, an alternate name for Manaslu.

Various packages cater to exploring the Manaslu region, with the Manaslu Circuit trek being the most sought-after. Spanning 177 kilometers (110 miles), this route skirts the majestic Manaslu massif, descending over the pass toward Annapurna. Nepal's government first permitted trekking along this circuit in 1991. Manaslu's parent range, Mansiri Himal, is nestled within the Himalayas, while the Circuit Trek to Manaslu constitutes a segment of the illustrious Great Himalayas Trail.

The trails of the Manaslu Circuit Trek trace an ancient salt trading route alongside the Budhi Gandaki River, offering a glimpse into history. Moreover, Manaslu presents a myriad of attractions, including the sight of 10 peaks soaring above 6,500 meters (21,325 feet).

Spanning 15 days, the journey commences in Seti Khola and concludes in Dharapani. Throughout the Manaslu Circuit Trek's 15-day duration, you'll traverse the captivating landscapes of the Manaslu Conservation Area, with highlights including breathtaking vistas of Manaslu itself, standing tall at 8,156 meters (26,758 feet) as the world's eighth highest peak.

Passing the Larkya La Pass during Manaslu Circuit Trek

One of the highlights of the Manaslu Circuit Trek is Larkya La Pass, which is located 5,106 meters (16,752 feet) above sea level. It is the highest point on the trekking path and offers hikers a mental and physical challenge.

The Manaslu and Annapurna mountain ranges are separated by the pass. It provides breath-taking, sweeping vistas of the surrounding peaks and valleys. Trekkers frequently discover themselves in the midst of an incredible environment made up of enormous stretches of glaciers, untamed landscapes, and snow-capped mountains.

Since Larkya La Pass is so high and its weather is unpredictable, it demands meticulous planning and preparation before crossing. Trekkers usually take their time climbing so that their bodies can adjust to the low altitude. There are challenging parts of the ascent that call for patience and courage. These parts are rocky and steep.

For trekkers, reaching the top of Larkya La Pass signifies the completion of their trip over the untamed and difficult landscape of the Manaslu area. Trekkers are rewarded with unmatched views of the neighboring Himalayan peaks, such as Manaslu, Annapurna, and Ganesh Himal, from the summit.

Best Season for Manaslu Circuit Trek

Fall, from September to November, and spring, from March to May, are generally regarded as the finest times to undertake the Manaslu Circuit Trek. This is the reason why:

Autumn (September to November): This is the best time of year to go trekking because of the clear skies, consistent weather, and comfortable temperatures. With sharp, clear sight, the vistas of the Himalayan peaks are often breathtaking at this time of year. In addition, the trails are less congested than they are during the busiest travel times, making for a more tranquil trekking experience.

Spring (March to May): This is a great time of year to do the Manaslu Circuit Trek. As the temperature rises, the rhododendron woods blossom, illuminating the surrounding terrain with vivid hues. The routes are progressively becoming more accessible as the winter snows melt, and the longer days make for more suitable hiking conditions.
